Candle Firefly in Dungeons & Dragons 5e
Homebrew
Candle Firefly
Wondrous Item
Uncommon
This 5-centimeter bronze automaton resembles a firefly. While active, it follows its master, the creature that imbued it with magic.
It has AC 16, 4 hit points, a walking speed of 10 feet, and a flying speed of 30 feet.
On command as a bonus action, the automaton lands on a surface or creature, stands on its legs, and elevates its abdomen. Its wings unfold like flower petals to expose an internal compartment housing a perpetual flame. Operating as a scaled-down Continual Flame, the fire looks real but emits no heat and consumes no oxygen. It can be covered or concealed, but never smothered or quenched.
While open, it sheds bright light in a 5-foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet until commanded to close and revert to its beetle form.
