Humble beginnings, such are the way things begin. Who now hasn't heard of the Port Renis Renegades, the four companions of great fame all across the Scale Spire borderlands and all about the continent of Wyriel in general. Yet these four individuals have not always been so loved, so favored. As with all Exemplari, there is much that happened before, and even once they'd started their grand journeys and adventures that is shrouded in mystery, myth and tall tale. Yet such tales offer a window, and this story, put now to paper and ink, is one. Not only is this one, but this is the first one, the tale beginning on that a late summer's afternoon, near the end of the month of Oniva, but an hour or so from a small little village known as Eel's End. The group would cut their teeth in this region, develop their reputation here between Knell and Ishvi two frontier towns. The first near the cliffs of the Scale Spire Highlands, a busy and important copper mining community is Knell. The other a major port town on the south shores of the Lake Ishi, where it drains southwards into the Vizcal River, which if you follow for a couple hundred miles, you eventually arrive at Port Renis. This region is where they would become famous, and the city of Port Renis on the east coast of the Wyrielian Continent. Port Renis and the entire region in question lie near the borders of the two nations of Waston and Mora, distinctly in Moran territory, and over time the Renegades would become heroes of folklore in both nations, Their stories and legends spreading all about the the Sea of Sails to every port of call one can imagine. However it would be Port Renis that would be the settlement whom's name would make them famous.
This story though, is how it all began near, in and around some tiny backwater fishing village. This is the origins of the heroic band we know now as the Port Renis Renegades. Contained here is the story, the folklore, of their humble beginnings. The stories as told by the Renegades themselves, as well as other travelling story-tellers. This is not a historical record, though your humble author did his best. No, my dear readers, it is a story, a tale, perhaps the beginning of the seminal folklore of the heroes we know as the Port Renis' Renegades.
