Uncounted Moon-Cycles

In this period of waiting, the dragons settled into a routine. They stayed on their mountains except when they were hunting. None ventured to the mountain that had the path. It seemed rude to eat those who had helped them. The hunters ventured beyond the forbidden valley. The Winged Dragons became reclusive during those sun-cycles. They hunted, ensuring that the clan had enough food, but beyond that, they stayed to themselves.

Winark agreed with reluctance to help the Fire Dragons onto the tʃus but still refused to have anything to do with the vessels directly.

It took longer for the tʃus to be completed than I had thought. When I brought back the news that they were finished, utter joy traveled through all but one dragon. The colonists braided ropes as thick as a Spirit Dragon and attached them to the front of the tʃus.

The vessels were the most beautiful objects I had ever seen. They were fair in color, and the colonists carved Water Dragons along the sides, and the front curved upward into the regal head of the dragon. They were heavy, and we needed the strongest Fire Dragons to pull them.
