Day 23

I was still stuck at home again today. I'm not sure if it's because Ivar thinks I need to rest or because he doesn't trust me going out with the others yet.

I don't think I can convince him that there's no way I ever want to be that close to one of those creatures ever again.

I stayed in to work on my weaving, Eilidh needs a new dress and I offered to make it for her.

The only interesting point in my day was when I had a visitor, the shipping master came to bring me something.

"Your Jova set this aside for you on out last voyage," he said, handing me a parcel, pale silk tied up with a ribbon. It made my heart stop to here him referred to as 'mine' because I know he won't be now, not properly.

But I couldn't say any of that, "Thank you," I said politely, running my hand over the soft material.

"It's a shame about him," he said after a minute, "he was a good worker." Productive, would do what he was told, useful skills. He was so much more than that.

"Always had been," I told him. I'd known him longer than anyone else here, after all.

After he left, I continued on with my work until the other's came home. I've been avoiding them too really, so I went upstairs when I heard them approaching.

It's getting dark now, the other's will be coming up to bed soon. I'm not sure why I'm bothering to write this now, it's not like he'll ever see it.

I'll place this book under the board where I've kept it this month. I don't know if I'll ever look at it again.
