Day after Arrival, Midday

The sun of this world bears down on the people here, but I appear to not be as affected by the temperature as the rest of these people are. I am met with concerned glances by passerby's, seemingly due to my thick robes, as they all have cut down on their clothing, seemingly so the sun does not scorch them as much.

I came across a most curious building in my travels, which turned out to be fruitful for me. I noticed it being completely avoided by every other person traveling like me. No one entered or exited for the time I was observing it, and it had the strangest symbol on the door, I would describe it as an eyeball, shimmering on the door like a haze. I detected faint hints of magic coming from it, yet I could not place what school it was. The magic was so beyond what I am used to I felt confident this could be a portal back to where I came from. When I entered the structure, it felt as if time itself stopped moving, and I was walking atop the coils of the Great Adder. The building itself was an empty room, with a single bookshelf containing a single book on the far wall. Taking the book off the shelf and reading it I found nothing, empty page after empty page. When I began wondering why this was here, a voice called out to me, claiming that I was chosen to serve it when I first stepped foot in the Between Plane. This sparked my interest, as I had originally come with a group of three others who were assigned by our elder to explore this Between Plane, it was a standard mission like any other. To hear something be interested in us that claims to have knowledge of the Between Planes is most useful. I asked the voice if it could return me to my expeditionary team, or directly back to my home. The voice replied in the affirmative, with the stipulation that I perform a task for it. Simple enough I thought, what sort of task could be so difficult that I would rather risk not getting home?
