This prologue is heavy in the best way. The way fear creeps in slowly, from the parents' reaction to London's change and Kylon trying to hold everything together, really landed. The Endless Vale already feels important, especially through London's curiosity about it, and the last moment at the wall hurt a lot.
I'm curious, do you see London's pull toward the Vale as instinct, or is it something that started after the testing and transformation?
Your prologue powerfully establishes the emotional stakes and worldbuilding, especially through Kylon and London’s tragic separation and the ominous mystery of the Endless Vale. Do you plan for Kylon’s journey in the story to revolve around eventually entering the Endless Vale to find London again?
I really felt for young Kylon in the prologue the way his hopeful imagination as knights contrasts with the fear and heartbreak of being taken was so vivid and emotional. I’m really curious though what’s been driving London’s silence and distance since the incident?
